Zakia brings a colorful background to the team as she has served as a classroom teacher, summer program director, and volunteer coordinator. She demonstrates leadership expertise currently as the Durham Academy Extended Day Program Assistant Director and Middle School Coordinator.

She believes in order to help children unlock their potential, you must facilitate a healthy learning environment. Watching youth grow and excel with enthusiasm is a highlight of her work.

Zakia is originally from Rochester, NY, and enjoys traveling and watching cooking shows and binge sports in her free time. Zakia is a Proud North Carolina Central Alum. Eagle Pride!!
