Partners

StrongHER TogetHER partners are integral to our continued efforts to unite and elevate girls in our community.  Funding, as well as donated resources, allows us to offer programming that furthers our mission and meets the complexities of the world head on.

If you are a corporation, program or foundation with specific funding interests in gender equity, anti racism, mental health, social health, literacy, mentoring, activism, service learning and / or elevated outcomes for girls, please reach out.

Your funding will help support our programming, and we would also be excited for your employees to share their stories and skills with the girls.  We are forever on the lookout for programming opportunities with our partners!

Want to sponsor an event?  We have many to choose from!  Events include a fun group outing, a week-long summer camp, a Civil Rights Immersion trip, and even a Community Quinceanera!…Tell us more about your interests and let’s bring your dollars to life!

Do you have a great facility space we might use for weekend group gatherings, summer camp or mentoring activities?  Let’s talk!  We are always on the lookout for community spaces to use (that is…until we get our OWN space one day!)

Do you have a reliable bus you want to donate, or would you be interested in helping us buy a full size bus, a mini-bus or a van?  Our group is growing with every passing year and many of the girls need transportation.  We would love to brainstorm vehicles with you!

Over the years, StrongHER TogetHER has been fortunate to have many partners.  Check out these supporters and see how their efforts are making a difference in our community!

Durham Public Schools (DPS)DPS counselors nominate girls into our program each Spring, with most nominating 1-2 girls per school and providing a waiting list beyond that.

Nominations are based on the potential impact our program might have, the child’s propensity to share what they learn, and the family’s openness to new people and places. Beyond this, counselors, teachers, media specialists and social workers also provide programming feedback and they assist us in broadcasting and implementing community events.

DPS is a partner that is not only vital to our program, but staff and administrators offer guidance and voices of experience that make our efforts more informed, efficient and impacting, too.

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) – NCCU has provided support to StrongHER TogetHER on many levels over the years. We are fortunate to have a cross-section of leaders and supporters who are NCCU alumni or affiliated with the university in some way.

We have partnered with the Law School for a mentoring experience, the NCCU Athletics Department has included us in their annual Sports Awards Program.  We have been invited to women’s basketball events and finally, the women’s tennis team offers clinics, participates in webinar opportunities, and offers virtual support to the girls via anything from zoom-crafting to a listening ear.

We cannot overstate the impact NCCU students and staff have had at a grassroots level since our earliest days and we look forward to innovative collaborations with the Eagles for years to come.

Durham Academy (DA):  DA has been a steadfast partner since our inception, providing us with the use of facilities for summer camp, buses to transport girls who need it, gym space for workshops, and finally, we anticipate inclusion in their upcoming camp curriculum as well for our YARD (Youth Anti Racism Discussion) and LIV (Loving Inner Voice) series. We are so grateful that DA saw something in our program from the start. We look forward to seasons of collaboration with the DA team in the future!
