Durham Book Club (DBC) is a community-wide StrongHER TogetHER initiative that unites students through the power of reading. Initiated during the 2020 pandemic summer in response to a season of isolation, DBC has evolved to include over 600 students who have received a total of nearly 3000 books!
We have met with authors who are New York Times Best Sellers, Coretta Scott King Award winners, authors whose work has inspired movies, TIME magazine featured authors and SO. MUCH. MORE! In 2022, we are beyond excited to enter our third season alongside school librarians and English/Language Arts staff representing partner schools from throughout the community.
Whether you are part of the DBC student-led Title Selection Committee, an amazing reader who’s affiliated with one of our partners or a member of the DBC leadership team, thank you for supporting our program. We are excited to connect Durham students and provide a positive platform for knowing, understanding, and celebrating ideas and perspectives that extend well beyond school walls and neighborhood streets. We are also humbled to lead a fun, thought-provoking opportunity to advance literacy among our community’s youth.
